- Why Field Yates is picking Brandin Cooks over DK Metcalf
News: 6 days agoCooks isn't slated to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Saints, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Spin: Among the Texans' skill positions, only running back Rex Burkhead is expected to join Cooks in street clothes. With Cooks unavailable to the offense, Nico Collins, Chris Conley and Chris Moore, among others, are the next players up at wide receiver.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Perhaps one of the most-underrated players in the NFL, Cooks has delivered 1,000-plus receiving yards and a top-20 fantasy campaign during six of the past eight seasons. Oh, and he's done it with four different teams. Cooks hasn't been a big factor in the TD department (he's been under seven TDs each of the last four seasons), but that's been easily offset by high-end efficiency (career 9.2 yards per target) and target shares (25% over last two seasons). Houston's QB situation remains a question mark, but he and projected starter Davis Mills had a solid connection last season (69-736-5 receiving line on 96 targets). Cooks remains an underrated WR2.
