Fiction: The Cowboys have too many questions at key positions to win eight games in Bill Parcells' first season. They don't have a proven running back, tight end or quarterback. The saving grace for the Cowboys is their underrated defense. Parcells has done a great job in the past rebuilding teams in their second year. This year will be spent finding out what he needs to work with and what he needs to improve for next season.

Fiction: The Cowboys will not win eight games this season. The core of the team is still not solid at quarterback or wide receiver. It will force them to play a very conservative-style of offense and the Cowboys won't be able to consistently generate enough points to win eight games. When a team isn't sustaining offense and putting points on the board, the defense has to stay on the field longer and it affects them later in the season. The Cowboys defense is good, but it's not dominant enough to win eight games by itself. Parcells will make an immediate impact, but it'll be more like one or two more wins this season.
