Two teams with high hopes in 2000 meet in the Nation's Capital. Nothing short of a Super Bowl will satisfy the Redskins, who emptied the coffers in signing free agents Deion Sanders, Bruce Smith et al, not to mention first round choice LB LaVar Arrington (55). The offense is set to explode with QB Brad Johnson (14) at the helm. He threw for over 4000 yards in 1999. The Panthers rode the arm of QB Steve Beurlein to a surprising 8-8 season in 1999. Head Coach George Seifert hopes free agent LB Lee Woodall (58) and un-retired legend Reggie White (92) will fortify a defense that was porous, at best, in 1999.

Coaching Points:

  • On third down Washington brings in a third receiver and replaces Stephen Davis with Adrian Murrell (22) at RB.
  • The Panther linemen, White (92), Eric Swann (98), Sean Gilbert (94) and Jason Peter (97) all stunt, putting pressure on QB Brad Johnson (14).
