Jerry Rice is falling in line with Roger Craig and Ronnie Lott. It seems every Hall of Fame 49er must make a stop with the Raiders. Although it is one of the most overlooked factors in playing pro sports, it is very important for a player to feel comfortable in his surroundings. It was important for Rice to stay on the West Coast. Not only did he manage to stay in California, all he has to do now is drive across the bridge! Tim Brown is the same caliber of wide receiver as Rice, and together, the Raiders will have two of the greatest competing together. Brown and Rice will drive each other, and the result will be elevated play from both in the coming season. This is a good fit for both player and team. The Raiders haven't typically run the pure West Coast offense, but you can be sure they will now with Rice on board. Obviously the Raiders had a successful season last year, but they still needed help at wide receiver. In Rice, they'll have someone who's consistent, and who knows exactly what he's doing. The Raiders get more than another wide receiver out of this deal -- they get an extension to their coaching staff. Young players coming in will listen to John Gruden and his staff, but they'll be watching Jerry Rice.
