Week-by-week overtime results

ESPN.com

There were an NFL-record 25 overtime game in the regular season and one overtime game in the playoffs. Some interesting numbers of note:

  • The team that won the coin toss won ten times on the opening drive of overtime.

  • The team that received the opening kickoff of OT won 11 times (the Bears lost the coin toss in Week 12, but received the kick and won on their opening possession).

  • The team that won the coin toss ended up winning 16 of the 26 games (one game ended in a tie).

Here is a week-by-week breakdown of all of the overtime games, along with which team won the toss and a recap of how the overtime period unfolded.
