Ugly injury Bears wide receiver Wendell Davis tore the patella tendons in both of his knees on the same play while running a pass route, essentially ending his NFL career. Davis, untouched on the play, was attempting to jump for a pass when his cleats stayed in the artificial turf. Davis underwent surgery, rehabilitated the knees for more than a year and played another season with the Indianapolis Colts, then retired. He even considered filing a lawsuit against Veterans Stadium. |
