Wasted Pick
Underwood, the second of Minnesota's two first-round picks in 1999 (Daunte Culpepper was the first) never played for the Vikings. Minnesota signed him Aug. 1, 1999 to a five-year, $5.3 million contract, he showed up to training camp for one day and then left without telling anyone. He went to a Philadelphia hotel where he says he spent days wrestling with whether he should play football or serve God. Underwood was subsequently released by the Vikings.
