Bucs rookie Jamel Dean on notching an interception after dropping one earlier in the game: "I feel like a weight was off my shoulders, cuz I was really beating myself up on the sideline, knowing I dropped something. And then I kept looking at the score of the game, like, ‘I could have had an impact on this.'"

Bucs kicker Matt Gay said he would LOVE to have a pressure-kick like his 48-yard game-winner during the regular season. "If that's gonna be me, I gotta rise to every single occasion," he said, adding that so many games are decided by three points or less. "You've gotta be spot-on. I love those situations."

Panthers safety Eric Reid responded to comments by ESPN's Stephen A Smith, who criticized him for lashing out at Jay-Z ‘s partnership with the NFL and saying it was burying Colin Kaepernick's career. ‘'The order of events that happened right? We're professional athletes first, then we started protesting systemic oppression,'' Reid said. ‘'I think it's ludicrous that somebody like Stephen A,, who has been so closely reporting on this, would make a statement like that is asinine."

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said "decision making'' was what he'll look at first when deciding between Kyle Allen and Will Grier and Cam Newton's backup. He was surprised both struggled in Friday night's exhibition loss to Buffalo after two good practices against the Bills on Tuesday and Wednesday. "The part about it was the decisions that it looked like they made, were good decisions,'' Rivera said. "They just didn't deliver good balls.''

Brian Flores said he expects Ryan Fitzpatrick to start the third preseason game next week vs. Jaguars. That is typically the closest one to a regular season game.

Wanted to see more out of Josh Rosen in his starting opportunity tonight to surpass Ryan Fitzpatrick. His day was OK. But fortunately for him, Fitz didn't do anything to separate. Battle should still be open as we head into third preseason game.

Pat Shurmur leaves no doubt about his Week 1 starter being Eli Manning. "John [Mara] owns the team. We're on the same page. ... You heard it from the owner."

Giants quarterbacks led by Daniel Jones have played extremely well in first two preseason games. A combined 50-of-67 for 646 yards with six touchdown passes and one interception. All four QBs (Jones, Eli Manning, Kyle Lauletta, Alex Tanney) have throw a TD pass.

Panthers safety Eric Reid is wearing a black No.7 Colin Kaepernick jersey. Says Jay Z prospects of being a part owner of an NF@ team is ‘'kind of despicable.''

Time to give Taylor Heinicke some serious snaps in this backup quarterback contest? So far in the fourth quarter he's 8-for-11 for 78 yards and a touchdown. First up last season when Cam Newton was shut down, Heinicke has been reduced to basically a scout team quarterback during most practices while Kyle Allen and Will Grier battle it out. Don't forget Heinicke has the most experience in Norv Turner's offense, having been with him at Minnesota.

Daniel Jones finishes 11-of-14 passing for 161 yards with a TD pass and two fumbles in his second outing. Some ups and downs in his first game experience facing pressure. Ball security needs work, but leaves on a high note after a perfect TD toss to T.J. Jones.

David Newton ESPN Staff Writer

Will Grier gets his first snaps in from of his hometown crowd at Bank of America Stadium. He has a chance to impress after Kyle Allen went 4-for-11 for 32 yards with two passes deflected at the line of scrimmage. So what does he do? Throws an interception that is returned 71 yards for a touchdown.

Preston Williams has been the story of Dolphins training camp, but Sam Eguaveon has been a close No.2. He just forced a fumble there and has consistently looked good. Eguaveon spent the last three years in the CFL and now he's in position to not only make the team but start.

Bucs coach Bruce Arians wasn't kidding about not playing Jameis Winston much at all in the second preseason game. His night is done after one series. 2-for-4 for 24 yards and a 5-yard scramble. Had they not had joint practices this week and were playing in more favorable conditions, perhaps we'd be seeing more of him, but Arians has been very conservative with his starters' snaps this preseason.

Cameron Wolfe ESPN Staff Writer

Great opportunity for Josh Rosen to make a major statement in Dolphins QB battle. Ryan Fitzpatrick has been the leader in the clubhouse all spring and summer. Brian Flores says final decision hasn't been made yet. Rosen's chance is tonight.

David Newton ESPN Staff Writer

Not a great start for Kyle Allen with the first-team offense (minus TE Greg Olsen) in the race for the backup quarterback job. He short-hopped a second-down pass and had his third-down pass tipped at the line. Allen has been consistent most of the preseason, which is why he got the start over Will Grier.

Cameron Wolfe ESPN Staff Writer

Josh Rosen getting the start tonight for Miami.

In first look at Panthers' starting defense -- minus ILBs Luke Kuechly and Shaq Thompson -- in an exhibition game this preseason there was decent pressure at times but Buffalo was able to move efficiently mostly with short passes to the 12 for a field goal. No gaping mistakes, though, and the unit will be more efficient with Kuechly and Thompson.

Ndamukong Suh's first time taking the field as a Buc. With the loss of Vita Vea, his role is that much more vital because Todd Bowles loves to pressure so much inside. Those double and triple-A gap blitzes don't happen without him.

Pete Carroll said Ziggy Ansah, who has been working his way back from shoulder surgery, suffered a minor groin pull during a workout within the past week. "It's going to take him a bit," Carroll said. "It's not a major injury at all. We're really thrilled. His strength is back. He's made it back to full strength in terms of his rehab for his shoulder. We're just waiting on his groin right now." Mike Iupati, who has been out with a foot injury, re-injured his calf during a recent workout. There's no ETA on when either will be back. Ethan Pocic has been at left guard for Iupati.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

How much will we see of quarterback Jameis Winston tonight? Coach Arians indicated it wouldn't be a whole lot more than last week, which was a series. Arians seemed pretty satisfied with the work Winston got in this week's joint practices.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

Both Bucs kickers Matt Gay and Cairo Santos are warming up. Gay drilled a 55-yard field goal last week but he didn't have to do it in wind or rain, which we could be seeing a fair amount of tonight.

News that WR Josh Gordon is being reinstated by the NFL — first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter — comes at a time in which the Patriots are especially thin at the position. Julian Edelman (thumb) has yet to participate in training camp, first-round pick N'Keal Harry came up hobbling in the preseason opener and hasn't practiced since, and veterans Phillip Dorsett and Maurice Harris left Wednesday's practice due to injury and remain sidelined. So Tom Brady was throwing to mostly undrafted free agents and late-round picks in the most recent practice, but in a flash, that all changes with Gordon's reinstatement.
