Gabe Carimi cut by Buccaneers

TAMPA, Fla. -- Offensive lineman Gabe Carimi, a first-round pick by the Chicago Bears in 2011, was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday.

Carimi never was able to make a positive impact with the Bears, who traded him to the Bucs for a sixth-round draft choice last offseason. Carimi was mostly a backup for the Bucs, appearing in 14 games and starting three.

The Bucs also released running back Michael Hill, quarterback Jordan Rodgers (brother of Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers) and defensive lineman Derek Landri. The Bucs also signed quarterback Mike Kafka.
