Deonte Thompson arrested for pot

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Deonte Thompson was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Friday night, according to the Gainesville, Fla., police department.

Thompson, a backup who has played 13 games in two seasons, is the second player from the Ravens' Super Bowl champion team to be arrested in a week. Running back Ray Rice was arrested for simple assault in an incident involving his fiancee on Feb. 15 in an Atlantic City casino.

According to police, Thompson was a passenger in a car with two other men when the vehicle was pulled over for driving without headlights at 11:45 p.m. Friday. Police searched the car and found a duffle bag with several smaller bags of marijuana, weighing a total of 29 grams.

The other two men, Alvon J. Summerall and Erskine J. McKinley, told police the marijuana was theirs. Thompson said the duffle bag was his, but the marijuana inside the bag was not.

Thompson, who went undrafted out of the University of Florida, was in jail on a $7,000 bond. He has 15 career catches for the Ravens for 147 yards and no touchdowns.
