Taylor Martinez joins Eagles

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent.

Martinez's father, Casey, confirmed in an email to The Associated Press on Sunday that Martinez would join the Eagles but didn't know what position his son would play. The Eagles' starter is Nick Foles, and Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley are the backups.

Taylor Martinez played in only four games in 2013 because of a foot injury. A coaches' All-Big Ten first-team selection in 2012, the 6-foot-1, 210-pound Martinez left Nebraska as the program's career leader in total offense, passing yards, touchdown passes and starts by a quarterback.

Martinez worked at receiver and safety as well as quarterback during Nebraska's pro day.
