Tamba Hali to restructure deal

Kansas City Chiefs veteran linebacker Tamba Hali has agreed to restructure his contract, a league source told ESPN's Adam Caplan.

Hali, 31, has 79.5 career sacks, putting him third behind Derrick Thomas and Neil Smith on the Chiefs' career list.

He had six sacks in 2014 and by that measure it was the second-worst season of Hali's nine-year NFL career.

Pro Football Focus still had Hali rated 13th among 46 3-4 outside linebackers who played at least 25 percent of their team's defensive snaps. PFF also had Hali as its No. 2-rated outside linebacker in pass coverage.

But the Chiefs paid Hali to rush the quarterback and in that area last season he was completely eclipsed by his teammate, Justin Houston, who led the league with 22 sacks and received the franchise tag this offseason.
