Rex Ryan's history of bold proclamations

On Wednesday night, first-year coach Rex Ryan proclaimed of the Buffalo Bills: "I think we'll be in (the playoffs) this year. So we'll see."

It's not the first time Ryan has made a bold prediction since he's become a head coach in the NFL. Here's a look at some of the others:

Jan. 21, 2009, during an introductory news conference: "With all the cameras and all that, I was looking for our new president back there. You know, I think we'll get to meet him in the next couple years anyway."

Aug. 5, 2010: Ryan signed ESPN's bus during training camp with "soon to be champs."

Feb. 11, 2011, at halftime of a New York Knicks game, he said to MSG Network: "There's no way we don't get it done next year ... Next year I know we'll win it."

Feb. 24, 2011, at the NFL scouting combine: "I believe this is the year that we're going to win the Super Bowl. I thought we'd win it the first two years. I guarantee we'll win it this year."

March 19, 2013, at the NFL owners meetings: "Guaranteeing that Super Bowl is always going to haunt me. If I could ever have a do-over, that would be it."

July 17, 2014, Ryan tells the NY Daily News: "I believe we're a lot better than that. 8-8 would be a hell of a disappointment for us. I'm just telling you that I believe this team is on the cusp of doing some special things. ... I'm confident we will be a playoff team."

Aug. 13, 2014, on getting his defense back in the top 5 statistically: "I don't think it'll be [down] there this [season near No. 11]. I think we'll get back to where we are accustomed to being."

Dec. 23, 2014, on winning the Super Bowl as a head coach: "I see myself winning it as a head coach. I definitely see it. If that happens, I guess we'll find out. ... I don't need to win something else like the Snoopy [Bowl] trophy. I've won that a couple of times. I'm confident I can win it again."

Jan. 14, 2015, when introducted as Bills head coach: "I'm not going to let our fans down. I'm not going to do that. I know it's been 15 years [since Buffalo reached the playoffs]. Well, get ready. We're going."
