Source: Super Bowl media day to become media night

The NFL is planning to move its Super Bowl media day to evening hours, shining a prime-time spotlight on the circus-like event, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The mass media availability now is expected to be held the Monday night before the Super Bowl, the source said.

Media day has become a mammoth attraction, with thousands of cameras and credentialed members of the press descending to grill players and coaches about one of the world's biggest sporting events -- and other topics. It has become less about football and more about the offbeat over the years, with costumed reporters and bizarre questions.

The Seattle Seahawks' Marshawn Lynch was the unquestioned star of this past Super Bowl media day, answering every question with some variation of "I'm just here so I won't get fined."
