Tevin Coleman carted off with rib injury, questionable to return

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Atlanta Falcons rookie running back Tevin Coleman was carted off the field late in the second quarter Sunday with a rib injury.

The Falcons announced that Coleman is questionable to return to the game against the New York Giants.

Coleman, who won the starting job going into the season ahead of second-year player Devonta Freeman, scored his first career touchdown on a 1-yard run in the first quarter. He had nine rushes for 32 yards before being carted off.

In last week's season-opening win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Coleman had a game-high 80 rushing yards on 20 carries.

With Coleman out, Freeman will take over the carries in the backfield with undrafted rookie Terron Ward behind him. Coleman missed some time during the preseason after suffering a hamstring strain the first week of training camp.
