Junior Galette suspended two games for role in January incident

The NFL has suspended Washington Redskins linebacker Junior Galette for two games for his role in a domestic incident in January.

Since Galette already will miss the remainder of this season after suffering a torn Achilles in August, the suspension means he will lose two game checks this season.

Galette was arrested and charged with misdemeanor simple battery/domestic violence in early January after a domestic incident at his home in Kenner, Louisiana. After an investigation, the charges were dropped in February.

The accuser, a 22-year-old woman, filed a civil suit against Galette, alleging he sexually abused her for years and held her against her will. But that suit was dismissed in August after the woman failed to pursue the case.

Galette, 27, was released by the New Orleans Saints earlier this summer, less than a year after they signed him to a four-year extension worth up to $41 million.
