Lions S Glover Quin suffers concussion vs. Saints

NEW ORLEANS-- The Detroit Lions could be without one of their best defensive players for at least a little while.

Safety Glover Quin was declared out for the rest of Monday night's game against the New Orleans Saints after suffering a concussion in the second quarter.

Quin tackled New Orleans running back Tim Hightower late in the second quarter. He had gone down to one knee to make the tackle, but then Hightower's knee collided with Quin's head during the tackle. Quin was down at first and then popped back up, appearing very woozy.

Officials and New Orleans players stopped Quin from running and then he was looked at by trainers and immediately taken to the locker room to be evaluated. Quin has played in all but one games in his career after being drafted by Houston in the fourth round of the 2009 draft.

He was a Pro Bowler last year after making seven interceptions and has been one of Detroit's most consistent defenders.
