While all of the Broncos players earned a $102,000 bonus as part of the 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, Talib was fined $26,044 for two of his penalties in the game.
Talib was flagged for taunting with just less than five minutes remaining in the first quarter. He was later flagged for another personal foul with less than 12 minutes remaining in the second quarter when he grabbed the face mask of Panthers wide receiver Corey Brown and twisted Brown to the ground.
After the game, Talib conceded he had held on to Brown's facemask intentionally, saying "one I just did on purpose, and I just had to show him.'' Several of Talib's teammates talked with him on the sideline after the penalty, trying to settle down the Pro Bowl cornerback.
After the game Talib said: "It's probably going to be a fine, but hey, we're world champs.''
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said last week he would support ejections for players who had two personal foul penalties in the same game. Such a rules change would have to be proposed by the league's competition committee and then approved by the league's owners.
"I believe that the league should pursue a policy where if there are two personal fouls in a game, there's an automatic ejection of the player," Goodell said. "I believe that that's consistent with what we believe are safety issues, but I also believe it's consistent with what we believe are the standards of sportsmanship that we've emphasized. We should take that out of the hands of the officials."
Talib was also flagged a third time in the game, for defensive offside. Talib was suspended one game during the regular season for jabbing his fingers into Indianapolis Colts tight end Dwayne Allen's helmet, poking Allen in the eye.
Including the three penalties in the Super Bowl, Talib was the Broncos' most-penalized player in the postseason with four flags. Talib was also the Broncos' most-penalized player in the regular season with 10 fouls; only one of those penalties was declined.
Carolina third-string quarterback Joe Webb was fined $8,681 too for unnecessary roughness in the chaotic moments after the final play of the game.
