Wide receiver Mike Williams agrees to deal with Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are trying to salvage another once-productive wide receiver.

The team announced Monday it had agreed to contract terms with Mike Williams, who was out of football in 2015 but had some prolific seasons early in his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Williams caught 215 passes with 25 touchdowns from 2010 through 2013 for the Buccaneers. He spent 2014 with the Buffalo Bills, where he caught eight passes with one touchdown.

Williams, who turns 29 in May, was suspended for the first six weeks of the 2015 season for an undisclosed issue and remained an unsigned free agent.

The Chiefs earlier in the offseason signed wide receiver Rod Streater, who was productive earlier in his career with the Oakland Raiders. But he had just one reception last year.
