Quentin Jammer to play with cast

Starting San Diego Chargers cornerback Quentin Jammer had surgery on his right thumb Tuesday but coach Norv Turner said he'll be able to play in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans.

"If we had a game today, Quentin would start," Turner said Wednesday, according to the North County Times.

Jammer will wear a cast over the thumb in Sunday's game. He was one of two Chargers cornerbacks injured in Monday's victory over the Oakland Raiders and the status of the other defensive back, slot cornerback Shareece Wright, is far more uncertain.

The North County Times reported that Wright was spotted with crutches Wednesday, wearing a boot over his left foot after injuring his ankle on the opening kickoff against the Raiders.

If Wright can't play, the Chargers will have just three cornerbacks -- Antoine Cason, Jammer and Marcus Gilchrist. Gilchrist, who backs up Wright at the nickel spot, was forced to move outside in Monday's game after Jammer was injured, and safety Eric Weddle had to cover the slot.
