David Garrard OK to work out

Doctors have cleared quarterback David Garrard to work out for NFL teams, agent Al Irby said in an email to ESPN.

Irby said Garrard has received a few calls to work out since the season began but had to turn them all down. As of Tuesday, however, Garrard will accept opportunities to work out in the right situation, Irby said.

Garrard, 34, had arthroscopic knee surgery in August and was released by the Dolphins in September.

He started for Jacksonville from 2005-10. He underwent back surgery in October 2011 and sat out last season, then signed with Miami in March.

Garrard's best season was in 2007, when he threw 18 touchdown passes and only three interceptions. He topped 3,500 yards passing in 2008 and '09, and he's 39-37 as a starter in nine seasons, all with Jacksonville.
