Ravens, Matt Elam agree to deal

The Baltimore Ravens and first-round pick Matt Elam agreed in principle to a four-year contract, the team announced Thursday.

The contract for the safety, who was selected 32nd overall, includes a fifth-year option, general manager Ozzie Newsome said.

The team said Elam, who negotiated his contract without an agent, is expected to sign his contract when he reports for training camp on July 21.

Elam played in 39 games for the University of Florida, starting his final 26 games at strong safety for the Gators. He had 176 tackles, six interceptions, five sacks and 13 passes defensed in his career.
