One source told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen it "looks like he's out for the year," while another said the team was hoping the MRI "proves the doctors wrong on the ACL."
Wayne remained on the ground for several minutes as some of his teammates, including Luck, receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, safety Antoine Bethea and linebacker Robert Mathis circled around him. With the crowd chanting "Reggie, Reggie, Reggie," Wayne finally got up and made his way to the sideline, where he didn't return. He finished with five catches for 50 yards.
"He's our leader, a vet and just tough to see him go down that way," Bethea said. "Hopefully it's not too serious and he can get back to us."
Wayne has played in 189 straight games, the most among active players. The Colts (5-2) have a bye next weekend before playing at Houston on Nov. 3.
