An apology was posted to the Twitter account of Freddie Falcon, the Atlanta Falcons' team mascot, following a tweet about suicide.
According to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, the following tweet was posted Sunday on the mascot's official Twitter account: "Had a good time at the #ood suicide prevention walk today. I may need to go back if our season continues the way it is."
That tweet has since been deleted.
Freddie Falcon followed up with an apologetic tweet later Sunday.
I am truly sorry for my inappropriate and insensitive tweet. It was in poor taste.

Both tweets were posted the same day the Falcons, the defending NFC South champions, dropped to 2-6 with a 34-10 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
@FreddieFalcon has more than 6,500 Twitter followers. The team had no comment on the mascot's tweet as of Tuesday morning.
Freddie Falcon has been available to appear at various events at the rate of $300 per hour and $180 for a half-hour. His three- to five-minute appearances at tailgate events cost $100.
