The Patriots had WR Jordan Suell (Southern Oregon) in for a tryout. Suell (6-foot-5, 205 pounds) had success in the Las Vegas-based developmental Spring League with 3 TDs before play was halted, and is a candidate for a future contract for 2021. Suell totaled 27 touchdowns at Southern Oregon, totaling 21,84 receiving yards, but went undrafted in 2020 and didn't hook on with any team as an undrafted free agent.

With the Eagles primed to hire Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni as their next head coach, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the decision has a trickle-down effect in New England. Josh McDaniels, the Patriots offensive coordinator, was a top candidate in Philadelphia and this should ensure his return to New England. McDaniels figures to play a key role in the Patriots' QB evaluations.

Josh McDaniels' scheduled interview with the Eagles on Sunday for their head-coaching vacancy is his first this cycle, and intriguing in the sense that he might be just what the Eagles desire and need to revive Carson Wentz. McDaniels has been patient in his pursuit of a head-coaching job in recent years, and at 44, knows he has a long career ahead of him. At the same time, the Eagles' current situation with Wentz could be the type that sparks him to jump if the Eagles like what they hear.

Patriots assistant director of player personnel Dave Ziegler (pictured), who interviewed for the Broncos' general manager job Saturday, is staying in New England. The Broncos officially hired George Paton on Wednesday. Ziegler's return helps soften the transition with longtime director of player personnel Nick Caserio departing to become Texans' GM.

Patriots inside linebackers coach Jerod Mayo is expected to be interviewed by the Eagles for their vacant head-coaching job, sources confirm to ESPN Eagles reporter Tim McManus. Mayo, who turns 35 in February, just concluded his second season on New England's staff after playing for the organization from 2008-2015. His intelligence and professionalism were hallmarks in his playing days, and his ability to relate to players as a coach is among his top assets.
