The Giants signed LB Deone Bucannon. He was recently cut by the Bucs. Reunited with coordinator James Bettcher.

The Giants signed LB Devante Downs from the practice squad. They waived TE Garrett Dickerson. Another head-scratcher. They kept an unhealthy Dickerson on active roster first few weeks, then played him for a total of nine offensive and three special teams snaps before waiving him.

The Giants aren't going back to Eli Manning as the starter. "No, I think Daniel is going to learn from everything that is going on," coach Pat Shurmur said. Obviously fully committed to the young QB. For good reason.

Pat Shurmur's explanation of the third-and-18 draw and going for it on fourth-and-15 with three minutes remaining: "It was going to play out the way I thought. ... Stop them, make them kick a field goal at the very least, then we go down and score a touchdown. Plus, I wanted to get a chance to make it on fourth-and-15." Was hoping to get a chunk with Saquon Barkley on the draw to make it manageable fourth down. Had planned to go for it on fourth down beforehand. Never considered punting.

Saquon Barkley said he "felt fine" and you could see it with the way he ran and cut. Thought he was back to his pre-injury self. I asked if he thought about staying out after tweaking the ankle and he said no way. "I want to be out there for my teammates. I was able to go, so why not?"

Asked Pat Shurmur where the Giants are at 2-5 after loss to Cardinals. "We have to get better in all areas."

The turnovers were the difference between Daniel Jones and Kyler Murray in the Giants' 27-21 loss to the Cardinals. Jones, who was under relentless pressure and sacked four times, had an interception and two fumbles. It led to 17 points and he now has 11 turnovers in five starts. Needs to clean it up.

Saquon Barkley came away from a third quarter run limping. Appeared to be favoring his ankle. He missed three games with a high ankle sprain on his right ankle.

The turnovers are a problem. Daniel Jones now has a lost fumble and INT in this game. He has seven INTs and four lost fumbles this season, among the league leaders in both categories.

Giants showed something after an awful start facing a 21-point deficit. Battled back. Cut it to 17-14 at halftime. Big special teams TD helped. The matchup between Daniel Jones and Kyler Murray (98 yards passing vs 87) pretty close in first half.

Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram officially active. The Giants inactives: WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) DB Corey Ballentine (concussion) QB Alex Tanney OL Chad Slade OT Eric Smith OLB Chris Peace TE Garrett Dickerson

A potential change on defense Sunday vs. Arizona in that we should be seeing more Michael Thomas at safety, potentially in place of Antoine Bethea. Regardless, lots of different packages and a lot of DBs on the field vs. Cardinals spread offense.

Saquon Barkley (ankle) set to make his return today vs Cardinals. It's an opportunity for Giants to see what their present and future looks like for the first time in a full game with Barkley and quarterback Daniel Jones.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

RB Wayne Gallman and DL Olsen Pierre have cleared the concussion protocol. Giants will now have a full backfield at their disposal with Saquon Barkley, Gallman, Buck Allen and Eli Penny all available.

OFFICIAL: RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) and TE Evan Engram (knee) WILL play Sunday vs. Arizona. WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) has been ruled out.
