It's been an offseason of licking open wounds for the Titans, who after
going 13-3 and winning the AFC Central believed 2000 was their year to get to
the Super Bowl. They instead watched as the rival Ravens stole the spotlight
and won the title.

The offseason was one of a number of losses, not the least of which was
defensive coordinator Gregg Williams taking the Bills' head coaching job.
Gone, too, is incumbent kicker Al Del Greco, whose late-season missed field
goals are what Tennessee believes held it back in the end.
Also gone are starters, Kenny Holmes at defensive end, Lorenzo Neal at
fullback, safety Marcus Robertson and cornerback Denard Walker.
Man in the spotlight
Quarterback Steve McNair is coming into training camp
with questions about his health after spending much of the offseason
recovering from a shoulder infection that put him in the hospital and
sidelined him from the Titans' passing camp in April.
Key position battle
Firstly, replacing Walker at right cornerback
Will come down to Dainon Sidney, Donald Mitchell and second-round draft pick
Andre Dyson. Also, look for Bobby Myers to win the job of replacing starting
free safety Robertson.
Biggest adjustment
This should be a good one: Jevon Kearse's new life with
the addition of defensive end Kevin Carter. With Carter on the opposite side
of Kearse, Kearse should see a lot less double teaming and could produce a
lot of sacks.
Rookie report
The Titans believe Dyson, out of Utah, can compete for a
starting job or at least be a nickel back immediately. They're also looking
for quick development from Kansas State tight end Shad Meier and receivers
Justin McCareins (Northern Illinois) and Eddie Berlin (Northern Iowa).
