BOX SCORE
TORONTO (AP) -- Although Curtis Joseph blanked the Buffalo
Sabres, Dominik Hasek didn't want to admit Joseph played a better
game.
Joseph made 28 saves for his fifth shutout of the season as the
Toronto Maple Leafs beat Hasek and the Sabres 2-0 on Saturday
night.

"I don't want to say CuJo had a better game, but he didn't give
up any goals," Hasek said. "He made the key saves for his team."
Shayne Corson and Igor Korolev scored for Toronto, who won for
just the fourth time in 15 games.
Hasek, who has allowed just three goals in his last four games,
made 38 saves for Buffalo, whose three-game winning streak ended.
"He was putting on a show on the other end," Joseph said.
Hasek, a five-time Vezina Trophy winner, made several impressive
stops, including robbing Sergei Berezin of a goal midway through
the second period. Berezin skated around a defenseman and
backhanded a shot, but a sprawled Hasek made the save.
"Hasek might get the best of you some nights, but we got a guy
named Curtis Joseph who is the best goalie in the league," Corson
said.
Joseph, who recorded his 31st career shutout, made a spectacular
save on Denis Hamel with just under nine minutes remaining in the
third. Stu Barnes made a centering pass to Hamel, who fired a shot
on net, but Joseph whipped his stick at the puck sending both
flying.
"That was unbelievable," Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff said. "You
have to give Joseph a lot of credit. He beat us tonight."
The Leafs and Sabres tied the season series at 1-1-2. Buffalo
won the first meeting, and the teams tied back-to-back games --
Jan. 3 at Toronto (1-1) and Jan. 5 at Buffalo (3-3).
Corson scored at 17:26 of the second. After Darcy Tucker failed
to stuff the puck in at the side of the net, he passed to a wide
open Corson, who batted the puck past Hasek.
"It was a lucky goal," Hasek said.
Korolev skated down the ice on a 2-on-1, faking a pass before
flicking a wrist shot past Hasek at 15:45 of the third.
Game notes
Corson, Tucker and Buffalo's Doug Gilmour received
10-minute misconducts just before the end of the game. As he was
leaving for the dressing room, Corson told a security guard that he
wanted to talk to Buffalo's Rob Ray. Tucker, Corson's brother
in-law, walked toward the Sabres dressing room, but was prevented
by teammates and security. Corson said Ray said something offensive
to him. ... Toronto's Steve Thomas returned to the lineup after
missing almost six weeks because of right knee surgery. Thomas
rejoined Toronto's top line. ... Toronto's Garry Valk received an
interference penalty for checking Hasek into the boards in the
third. Later in the period, Buffalo's Rhett Warrener sent Valk to
the ice with three punches. ... Toronto went 0-for-7 on the power
play, and have scored only twice with the man-advantage in its last
33 opportunities ... Buffalo went 0-for-3 on the power play. The
Sabres are scoreless in their last 31 man-advantages.
