ZURICH, Switzerland -- An arbitrator will decide on Saturday whether Alexei
Yashin can play for Russia in the world hockey championship.
The International Ice Hockey Federation made the ruling Tuesday.
A hearing will take place at the NHL's office in New
York.
Yashin was suspended last fall by the Ottawa Senators after
refusing to report to the team unless his contract was
renegotiated.
His current contract expires June 30.
Under the transfer agreement between the IIHF and the NHL,
Yashin can't play in international tournaments while under
suspension by the NHL. | |
