DENVER -- Colorado forward Adam Deadmarsh agreed to terms on
a long-term contract Tuesday with the Avalanche.

Denver television stations reported that Deadmarsh signed a
three-year deal worth between $7.5 million and $8.25 million.
Deadmarsh ranks second on the team in games played (366), third
in goals (116) and fifth in assists (129) and points (245) since
the Avalanche moved to Denver from Quebec.
"I have enjoyed every one of the years I have played in Denver
and I am thrilled to have reached an agreement to continue my
career here," Deadmarsh said.
The 25-year-old right wing, who came to terms a day after the
Avalanche signed captain Joe Sakic to a one-year deal, had 18 goals
and 27 assists in 71 games last season.
General manager Pierre Lacroix is still working on re-signing
restricted free agents Chris Drury and Milan Hejduk.
Mark Witkin, Drury's Boston-based agent, said the 25-year-old
center and the Avalanche are far apart in their negotiations. He
said Drury would not report to training camp, which opens Sept. 8,
without a contract.
Drury, the NHL rookie of the year two seasons ago, earned
$640,000 last season. He was the Avalanche's third-leading scorer
with 20 goals and 47 assists in 82 games.
"We had some cordial and short discussions two to three weeks
ago and that's about it," Witkin said.
Lacroix said now that the arbitration period has ended, he does
not anticipate major problems in talks with restricted free agents.
On Monday, the team avoided arbitration with Sakic when he
accepted a $7.9 million contract for next season. Center Stephane
Yelle also avoided arbitration by accepting a three-year, $3.15
million contract.
Defensemen Jon Klemm and Nolan Pratt went to arbitration and
received one-year deals for $900,000 and $550,000, respectively. | |
