SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose Sharks radio broadcaster Dan
Rusanowsky was in critical but stable condition following a two-car
accident near San Jose Arena.
Rusanowsky suffered a broken leg, a fractured pelvis, a ruptured
diaphragm and a severe concussion in the afternoon crash. He
underwent several hours of surgery at San Jose Medical Center, a
team spokesman said.
Rusanowsky, 39, has been the Sharks' play-by-play broadcaster
since the team entered the NHL in 1991. He saw every game in Sharks
history, including 725 in the regular season and 49 more in the
playoff, before Saturday night's game against New Jersey.
"The prayers and thoughts of our organization and players are
with him tonight," said team president Greg Jamison, who visited
Rusanowsky at the hospital before surgery.
Rusanowsky was replaced on Saturday night's broadcast by Roxy
Bernstein, the voice of California men's basketball and football
and a color commentator on various events.
