Selanne starts after 12-day hiatus

LOS ANGELES – Teemu Selanne made his debut with San Jose on
Saturday, 12 days after joining the Sharks in a trade from Anaheim
and one day after his first full workout.
The seven-time All-Star had arthroscopic surgery on his left
knee March 6. The operation came one day after the Ducks traded
Selanne for Jeff Friesen, goalie Steve Shields and a draft pick.
Against Los Angeles on Saturday, Selanne was shifted from his
right wing position to left wing on a line with Owen Nolan at
center and Niklas Sundstrom at right wing.
Selanne is expected to bolster an offense that has generated
more than three goals only twice in its previous 20 games.
He was leading Anaheim with 26 goals and 59 points at the time
of the trade. He teamed with Paul Kariya to form the league's
