Harvey agrees to deal worth more than $2.2 million

Associated Press

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Right wing Todd Harvey agreed to a two-year contract worth more than $2.2 million with the San Jose Sharks on Friday.

Harvey, a restricted free agent who had 10 goals and 21 points for the Sharks last season, signed for a salary slightly higher than the team's $1.1 million qualifying offer, general manager Dean Lombardi said.

The contract contains a dual option for a third season.

Harvey's signing leaves the Sharks with just two key restricted free agents unsigned: defenseman Mike Rathje and center Patrick Marleau.

Lombardi still hopes to have both players under contract before the Sharks' veterans report to camp for workouts beginning Wednesday, though negotiations likely will take longer.

San Jose will travel to Anchorage, Alaska, on Thursday for two preseason games against the St. Louis Blues.

Lombardi also said he expects to complete work next week on a contract extension for left wing Adam Graves, who was acquired from the Rangers in June.
