DENVER -- Peter Forsberg, who missed the whole season with injuries but led all players in scoring in the playoffs, played the last two games against Detroit with a broken pinkie.
Forsberg did not score in the game six or seven of the Western Conference finals, which the Red Wings won en route to a Stanley Cup championship.
Unlike the NFL, the National Hockey League custom calls for teams to keep injury information secret.
The team did not release any other details on the injury, including how he broke the finger. The team also disclosed that defenseman Rob Blake, who was ineffective against Detroit, suffered groin and hip ailments in a seventh-game victory over the Los Kings in round one of the playoffs. |
