NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A former Nashville Predators prospect has died after collapsing in a preseason workout in Russia, the team said Wednesday.

Alexander Krevsun, a 22-year-old winger for a club in Samara, Russia, died of a brain hemorrhage after collapsing July 3 during a 10-kilometer cross-country run, hockey officials said.

The Russian club, CSK VVS, said Krevsun passed his physical July 1 and seemed to be in perfect condition, according to a release from the International Ice Hockey Federation.

About halfway through the run, Krevsun collapsed. He was pronounced dead two hours later. The IIHF release said hot weather may have been a factor.

Krevsun was selected 124th overall in the fourth round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft by the Predators. However, his contract was not renewed and he was released from the club in September, a Predators spokesman said.

During the 2000-2001 season, Krevsun played one game with the Milwaukee Admirals, the Predators' American Hockey League affiliate. He scored eight goals and 13 assists in 48 games with the East Coast Hockey League club in New Orleans.
