McCauley gets new deal from Leafs

SportsTicker

TORONTO -- The Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday re-signed center Alyn McCauley and defenseman Wade Belak, who were restricted free agents.

Terms were not disclosed.

McCauley, 25, was perhaps Toronto's biggest surprise of the postseason, ranking second on the team with 15 points. Two of his five playoff goals were game winners.

McCauley will be entering his sixth full season in the Toronto organization after being acquired from New Jersey in a multi-player trade. In 240 career games, all with Toronto, McCauley has 27 goals and 40 assists.

Belak, 26, ranked second on the team to Tie Domi in penalty minutes with 142 this past season and appeared in 16 of the team's playoff games.

Belak was claimed on waivers by Toronto from Calgary in February 2001 and has three goals, eight assists and 506 penalty minutes in 186 NHL games.
