Defense further bolstered with signing

FRISCO, Texas -- The Dallas Stars signed free-agent
defenseman Lubomir Sekeras of the Swedish league on Tuesday for the
rest of the season.

"This signing gives us eight capable defensemen as we head into
the playoffs," general manager Doug Armstrong said.

The former Minnesota Wild player will join Dallas after
completing his immigration paperwork, the team said.

The move came a day after the Stars acquired defenseman Chris Therien from the Philadelphia Flyers for two draft picks. Also
Monday, Dallas added veteran offensive wing Valeri Bure from the Florida Panthers for a draft pick and a prospect.

Sekeras, 35, had four goals and 13 assists in 33 games with
Sodertalje SK of the Swedish Elite League. He played the previous
three seasons with Minnesota, scoring the winning goal last year in
Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals against Vancouver.
