Source: Ramsay to coach Thrashers

Craig Ramsay will be named head coach of the Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday or Friday, a source told ESPN.com.

Ramsay was an assistant coach with the Boston Bruins last season.

Ramsay also coached the Buffalo Sabres for 21 games in 1986-87 and the Philadelphia Flyers for 28 games in 2000-01. His career coaching record is 16-27 with six ties. He has also been an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

As a player, Ramsay had 672 points in 1,070 career games over 14 seasons with the Sabres.
