The Philadelphia Flyers placed winger Nikolay Zherdev on waivers, according to the NHL waiver list provided to ESPN.com by a source Wednesday.
The Russian sniper, 26, has been mostly scratched of late by the Flyers. He's earning $2 million this season and scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent July 1.
The Buffalo Sabres put captain Craig Rivet on waivers, according to the list.
Rivet, a defenseman, is a 16-year NHL veteran who has seen very
little playing time this season, appearing in only 23 games. He
hasn't played since Jan. 11, and has been a healthy scratch for the
past 16 games. He is scheduled to earn $3.5 million this season and also will be an unrestricted free agent July 1.
Winger Marek Svatos was waived by the Nashville Predators. He's making $800,000 and is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent. He came back from Russia's KHL earlier this season and signed an NHL contact with St. Louis, but had to clear waivers before joining the Blues. The division rival Predators snatched Svatos off waivers from the Blues.
Winger Ales Kotalik was put on re-entry waivers by the Calgary Flames, meaning he could be had for half of his $3 million salary. He has another year, at $3 million, left on his deal.
The New York Islanders put forward Jeremy Colliton on waivers.
The NHL's trade deadline is at 3 p.m. ET Monday.
