Sabres replace Rasmussen with Tsyplakov

BUFFALO, New York – Buffalo Sabres center Erik Rasmussen will miss Monday's playoff game against the Philadelphia Flyers due to a slightly separated right shoulder.

Vladimir Tsyplakov, who sat out the first two games of the playoff series, will take Rasmussen's spot on Buffalo's checking line, Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said Monday.

Rasmussen was listed as day-to-day.

He banged into the endboards following a breakaway attempt in overtime during Saturday's 4-3 victory at Philadelphia. Rasmussen continued playing and set up Jay McKee's winning goal.

"That's something you just deal with. This isn't going to keep me out of the playoffs for the rest of the time," Rasmussen said. "It's just a little slight setback right now."

The Sabres lead the best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinals 2-0.

Meanwhile, Keith Primeau returned to Philadelphia's lineup tonight and took the opening faceoff. He missed the last three weeks with a sprained left knee.

Primeau, who led the Flyers with 34 regular-season goals, started the game alongside Mark Recchi and Simon Gagne. He was expected to miss the entire series, but hastened his return since the Flyers fell behind in the series.
