Francis, Willis still recovering from concussions
ESPN.com news services

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Carolina's Ron Francis and Shane Willis, both victims of jarring hits from New Jersey's Scott Stevens, are listed as doubtful for Game 6 of their Eastern quarterfinals series.

Francis, Carolina's captain, and Willis are still suffering from concussions after taking hits from Stevens in Games 2 and 3, respectively. Defenseman Marek Malik also is out for the Hurricanes with a groin injury.

The players stayed in Carolina to recuperate, said Hurricanes spokesman Jerry Higgins. Willis and Francis already missed Game 5 – a 3-2 Carolina win in New Jersey on Friday night.

The Devils lead the first-round playoff series 3-2. The Hurricanes staved off elimination for the second straight night after a 3-2 overtime victory Wednesday. Rod Brind'Amour scored just 46 seconds into overtime to keep the Hurricanes' chances alive in the series.
