Food, skiing up for grabs
Associated Press
DENVER Gov. Bill Owens will be snacking on a basket full
of Italian meats if the Colorado Avalanche beat the New Jersey
Devils for the Stanley Cup.
But New Jersey Gov. Donald DiFrancesco will get three days of
skiing at the Colorado resort of his choice if the series goes the
other way.
Owens said he and DiFrancesco made their bet by phone on
Thursday. The seven-game series starts Saturday in Denver (ESPN, 8 p.m. ET).
Owens took a poke at the Devils, who moved to New Jersey in 1982
after a brief and unremarkable stint as the Colorado Rockies.
"Who can take seriously a team that actually left Colorado to
play in New Jersey?" Owens said.
