Associated Press
DENVER The return of New Jersey Devils' Randy McKay in the Stanley Cup finals appears
doubtful.

The right wing fractured his left hand in New Jersey's Game 1 loss to Colorado on Saturday, and has been holding out hope that he could make it back if the series ran long.
McKay arrived back in New Jersey with the Devils from Denver on
Wednesday afternoon, but felt that that it was a long shot that he
could resume his season.
McKay suffered the injury in a collision with Colorado's Ray Bourque in the second period of the Cup opener.
"We are going to wait and see," he said after the Devils' 5-0 loss to the Avalanche. "Right now there is no way I can hold a stick."
McKay was hit by Bourque at 4:02 of the period, immediately
grimaced and grabbed his left hand and crumpled to the ice.
"There was a pass through the middle, I let it go," McKay
said. "I kind of saw him and tried to get out of his way. He
caught my hand and jammed it up."
McKay was taken to the X-ray facility at Pepsi Center, where the fracture was confirmed.
"I wasn't sure if it was my wrist or my hand when I got in," said McKay, who has six goals and three assists in the playoffs. "They said it was my two fingers on the outside." Send this story to a friend | Most sent stories
