First-round flashbacks
Curtis Joseph
Curtis Joseph stymied Dallas in Game 7.
Edmonton used to have a hockey dynasty. But by 1997, the Oilers had missed the postseason for five straight years. The Dallas Stars had their best regular season in franchise history that year. Few gave Edmonton a shot at beating second-seeded Dallas, but armed with a red-hot goalie in Curtis Joseph, the Oilers won three overtime games and eliminated the Stars. The same two teams meet in the first round this year.
