Roy scoffs at demotion
Things weren't smooth sailing for Roy as a teenager either. He almost quit in midgets rather than accept a demotion to the 'B' level. But again, he gritted it out and found a place to play -- and wound up winning the whole league. Roy headed off to play junior hockey, where he was drafted by the Canadiens with their fourth pick in 1984. None of his junior teams won titles; he had to wait for the NHL for more of those.

As Roy hit juniors, he began look the part of a legit goalie, albeit a skinny one.
