SUNRISE, Fla. -- Florida Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo has left after the first period against the Carolina Hurricanes because of an upper-body injury and won't return to the game.
Hurricanes forward Radek Dvorak crashed into Luongo at 12:48 of the first, driving him into the back of the net and knocking the goal off its moorings. Dvorak was given a major penalty for charging and was ejected.
Luongo finished the period, in which he stopped 11 of 12 shots.
