The Montreal Canadiens have locked up one of their core, young stars, signing winger Brendan Gallagher to a six-year contract extension, the club announced Saturday night.
The deal is worth an average of $3.75 million per season, a source told ESPN.com. The year-by-year breakdown is: $5.5 million in the first year, $4.5 million in the second, $2.75 million in the third, $3 million in the fourth, $4 million (includes a signing bonus of $1.5 million) in the fifth and $2.75 million (includes signing bonus of $1.75 million) in the sixth year, which is a potential lockout season.
