Islanders re-sign Brock Nelson to 3-year deal

NEW YORK -- The Islanders re-signed center Brock Nelson to a three-year contract Wednesday.

Sources told ESPN's Pierre LeBrun that the deal is for a total of $7.5 million, with Nelson receiving $1.5 million this season and a raise of $1 million in each of the following two seasons.

The 23-year-old Nelson had 20 goals and 22 assists in 82 regular-season games last season and added two goals in seven playoff games. As a rookie in 2013-14, the former University of North Dakota player had 14 goals and 12 assists in 72 regular-season games.

From Warroad, Minnesota, he was drafted 30th overall in 2010.
