SEVILLE, Spain -- American Steve Tucker had the fastest heat time in the men's lightweight singles competition Sunday at the World Rowing Championships.
Tucker won his heat in 7 minutes and 10.22 seconds, just fractions faster than Germany's Ingo Euler in another heat. World champion Sam Lynch of Ireland also won his heat easily. All three advanced to the semifinals.
In the women's lightweight singles, Bulgaria's Viktoriya Dimitrova was the only racer to beat 8 minutes, finishing in 7:55.68, nine seconds faster than her nearest rival.
In the men's coxless pairs, world champions James Cracknell and Matthew Pinsent of Britain won their heat, as did Australia's James Tomkins and Drew Ginn.
Bulgaria's Roumiana Neykova had the fastest time in the women's single sculls, finishing three seconds ahead of world champion and heat winner Katrin Rutschow-Stomporowski. |
