PARIS -- Spain's Joaquim Rodriguez won Saturday's sixth stage of the Paris-Nice race Saturday, and Alexander Vinokourov of Kazakhstan retained the overall lead.
Rodriguez covered the 121.6-mile leg from Toulon to Cannes in 5 hours, 2 minutes, 1 second, beating countryman David Latase by a wheel's length in the final sprint.
France's Laurent Brochard was third, and countryman Sylvain Chavanel finished fourth.
Vinokourov, a close friend of Andrei Kivilev, who died Wednesday of head injuries sustained in a fall, leads with an overall time of 19:28.32, 43 seconds ahead of Spain's Mikel Zarrabeitia. Italy's Davide Rebellin is third, 54 seconds back. |
